Women in Weed: Meet 9 Female Founders

The flower you’re smoking is female, and so are the movers and shakers behind your favorite cannabis brands! This International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting the female faces in cannabis. From 3/3-3/6, enjoy 20% off our women-owned brands, including Pure Beauty, Yummi Karma,  High Gorgeous, Cam, Kikoko, Plus, Space Gem, Higher Edibles, + Gold Flora.

Women are changing the industry at every level, shifting the face of cannabis. Our team of female flight crew members help make the ride look easy, keeping things running smoothly across all departments. These women, along with countless others, are helping to create a space for all women in cannabis.

Meet Our Female Founders

For Imelda Walavalker, Co-Founder + CEO, Pure Beauty is the culmination of everything she loves most – including aesthetic, consumption, and social consciousness.

Lucie Herold, Co-Founder of Plus Products, decided to enter the cannabis industry instead of going to law school. Plus is now the #1 selling edible in California!

Amanda Jones and Jennifer Chapin, Co-Founders, started Kikoko to help a female friend with cancer and to create a cannabis product by women for women.

Krystal and Chelsea Kitahara, Co-Founders of Yummi Karma, are the sister duo behind this self-care beauty line, made specifically for women.

Laurie Holcomb, Founder + CEO of Gold Flora, also owns King’s Crew, a dispensary in Long Beach and Gold Flora Farms, a state-of-the-art grow facility in Desert Hot Springs, CA.

Donna and daughter Kristie created Higher Edibles when they saw the need for a clean, healthy edible on the market. Donna’s experience in the Army, successfully battling cancer and dealing with an ongoing knee issue led her to create a gluten-free product without any heavily processed sugar to lessen inflammation and provide relief.

Anna Cozy started CAM (California Artisanal Medicine) with the mission to share the healing power of the plant with as many people as possible. Compassion and cannabis are the two core values that are reflected in everything that CAM does.

Space Gem was a labor of love created by Wendy Baker in her home kitchen in Humboldt County, CA. Wendy’s mission was to create a high quality edible for medical patients free from dyes, harsh chemicals, solvents and fillers. Mission accomplished!

Your favorite sister duo behind Yummi Karma are the same faces behind High Gorgeous, an award-winning, cannabis-infused beauty line. Co-founders Chelsea Kitahara and CEO Krystal Kitahara created High Gorgeous with women in mind, working with an all-women team to bring their beauty products to life.
